Do Real Estate Agents Need a Custom Website?

Do Real Estate Agents Need a Custom Website. Practical scope and decision points for businesses in the United States and Canada.

TTARANDigital project guides · Since 2018

For agents and property managers in the United States and Canada, a useful site or app should help people make listings trustworthy and inquiries easy to route. The choices below are a practical starting point for planning the project.

FIELD NOTE

An agent's own site can organize local expertise and inquiries while third-party listings remain in use.

Compare the workflow, not just the interface

List the actions a customer and a staff member must complete. A standard website is often enough for information and lead capture. A web app becomes useful when people need accounts, records, approvals, or repeated operations. An Android app makes sense when device access or frequent mobile use is central; TARAN does not currently offer iPhone development.

What to put in the brief

Data feeds, listing rights, and third-party platforms can change the technical scope substantially.

  • Searchable listings with current status and key details
  • Photo galleries and location context
  • Inquiry forms tied to the relevant property
  • A process for updating or removing stale listings

A practical next step

Write down the primary audience, service area, required content, existing software, and the action a visitor should take. Test that action on a phone before launch. If an integration is needed, share the provider's documentation and access requirements with the developer. TARAN can turn that scope into a written proposal with deliverables and milestones.
